About this book
Warlock o' Glenwarlock, subtitled A Homely Romance, is by George MacDonald. Chapter VIII, headed Home, says that Cosmo was not particularly fond of school, and he was particularly fond of holidays; hence his father's resolve that he should go to school no more seemed to him the promise of an endless joy. The text says of books that they were but about twelve hundred in all, and to the eyes of Cosmo it seemed a mighty library, a treasure-house for a royal sage.
Chapter XI, headed The New Schooling, says that Mr. Simon opened a drawer without a word, took from it about a score of leaves of paper, and handed one of them to Cosmo. The text says that the excitement of adventure had relaxed and left Cosmo the weaker, and that Joan had to urge him on again and again but, as soon as she judged it safe, made him sit, and supported him. The text has Aggie pass the turning she would have taken to go home, following them steadily.
