About this book
George MacDonald's What's Mine's Mine is set out in three volumes. The contents of Vol. I list chapters headed How Come They There?, A Short Glance Over the Shoulder and The Girls' First Walk, among others. Christina says with condescension "It's really quite pretty!" after the girls have stood for a moment looking.
Alister covers a head with huge horns in a blue cotton handkerchief, asks Ian to go for a walk, and leaves the head at the door of the New House with his compliments to Mr. Sercombe. One speaker says he will stay with his body and lets his soul step about, waiting for him, and that he won't be going from his own strath.
