David Joachim
David Joachim approaches cookbooks as both a writer and an editor, with an emphasis on clear methods, useful substitutions, and the science behind everyday food. He has authored, edited, or collaborated on dozens of cooking titles and received recognition from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Rodale Books published A Man, a Can, a Plan in 2002 with the Editors of Men's Health. Inspired by a magazine article, it organizes fifty inexpensive recipes around canned ingredients, short preparation times, photographs, and beginner-friendly instructions. A Man, A Can, A Plan, A Second Helping followed in 2007, again crediting Joachim and the magazine's editors, with fifty new recipes using canned and other convenience foods. Together the books show his ability to turn a narrow practical premise into approachable cooking guidance without requiring extensive equipment or advanced technique.
