Michel Lauricella

Teaches anatomy to artists in Paris and draws the Morpho books, which are small enough to fit in a coat pocket and dense enough to be studied for years.

The approach is not medical illustration. Lauricella breaks the body into simplified volumes and shows how a form reads under motion, then adds the underlying structure only where it changes the surface. Each volume takes one problem, hands and feet, or fat and skin, or skeletal landmarks. Artists tend to own several and disagree about which is the one to start with.
