Tony Hill turns the working knowledge of a spice merchant into practical culinary reference. For years he owned World Merchants Spice, Herb & Teahouse near Seattle’s Pike Place Market, buying directly from growers and learning regional food traditions through travel. The Spice Lover’s Guide to Herbs and Spices draws on that experience to explain the origins, flavors, storage, and kitchen uses of over 125 seasonings, with recipes and Hill’s blend formulas. Wiley also published his earlier The Contemporary Encyclopedia of Herbs & Spices, which covers hundreds of herbs, spices, and blends. Both books connect culinary history and ingredient sourcing with advice cooks can use.
