About this book
An Elementary Course in Synthetic Projective Geometry is by Derrick Norman Lehmer. The preface says the course is intended to give, in as simple a way as possible, the essentials of synthetic projective geometry. The preface points to the chapter on Involution, and says the author has never felt satisfied with the usual treatment of that subject by means of circles and anharmonic ratios.
The contents list chapters titled Point-Rows of the Second Order, Pencils of Rays of the Second Order, and Poles and Polars. The numbered sections include Pascal's theorem and Brianchon's theorem. The text says pure geometry has to its credit some of the finest discoveries in mathematics, and need not apologize for having been born.
