About this book

Burn is a world-changing work by Herman Pontzer, PhD. Pontzer, a leading expert in human metabolism, opened up the true workings of human metabolism for the first time. His research with hunter-gatherer communities reveals that our metabolism doesn’t increase with exercise.

About the author

Herman Pontzer

Pontzer is an evolutionary anthropologist at Duke who measures how much energy human bodies actually use, and his fieldwork with the Hadza in Tanzania produced a result nobody expected: hunter-gatherers walking many miles a day burn roughly the same daily calories as office workers, because the body economises elsewhere.
