About this book
This story was transcribed from Orbit Science Fiction, September 1953. One scene in the city room of the Daily Star has Ed Kerry take a call from someone who wants to know when Lord Byron died. Sam, at the rewrite desk, answers at once, and Jake, the city editor, says he cannot think of information that makes less difference.
In another scene a little man, Mr. Cantine, explains to Jake and Ed a device built by his friends to take a living person out of one space-time continuum and place him in another. He says that moving in space also moves a person in time. Asked if that is clear, Ed answers no, and Jake tells him to be quiet. In a further passage a columnist named Kitty Kildare hurries in with pages for her next column.
