About this book
Doom of the House of Duryea by Earl Peirce is described as a powerful story of stark horror, and the dreadful thing that happened in a lone house in the Maine woods. Arthur Duryea, a young, handsome man, comes to meet his father for the first time in twenty years.
Arthur realizes, with growing pride, that he had loved his father all his life. Henry Duryea is described as having a kindliness in his face, at times an almost sublime kindliness which great prophets often possess. The air is hot and dry and carries a mild odor of decay. Arthur suddenly draws back at an odor with a gasp of awful fear.
