About this book
Gods and Fighting Men: The Story of the Tuatha de Danaan and of the Fianna of Ireland is arranged and put into English by Lady Gregory, with a preface by W. B. Yeats, and is dated 1905. Its dedication is to the members of the Irish Literary Society of New York.
In one passage Bres and Sreng exchange spears, and Sreng says the name of his heavy spears is Craisech. Eochaid and his chief men refuse to give up half of Ireland, and the Men of Dea settle on the plain of Magh Nia. In another passage Labran of the Long Hand asks a king for a sword and a shield kept in a house of seven rooms with locked doors. Elsewhere Oisin, who has no sight left, puts a serving-man on his shoulders each night to see how the cattle are doing, and one night the servants agree to tell him it is a very bad night.
