About this book
Charles Squire's book is subtitled An Introduction to Celtic Myth, Legend, Poetry, and Romance, and its title page is dated 1905, London. The preface says it aims to give the English reader the mythical, legendary and poetic traditions of the Gaelic and British Celts, and it mentions Lady Charlotte Guest's translation of the Mabinogion.
In one passage Miach digs up the hand King Nuada lost and joins it to his arm with an incantation. His father Diancecht is angry that his son has surpassed him in medicine. Airmid, Miach's sister, gathers the stalks of grass growing on his grave, each a cure for an illness, and their father overturns her mantle and mixes them up. Another passage gives verses about Arthur and Prydwen that name Caer Golud, Caer Vandwy and Caer Ochren. A further passage describes a chariot with wheels of white bronze and the halls of the mythical Irish kings.
