About this book

Kitty's Class Day and Other Stories is by Louisa May Alcott. The preface says the writer collected various waifs and strays to appease the young people who clamor for more. The preface says many girls asked to see what sort of tales Jo March wrote at the beginning of her career, and that The Baron's Gloves was added as a sample of the romantic rubbish which paid so well once upon a time.

The contents list Kitty's Class Day, Aunt Kipp, Psyche's Art, A Country Christmas, On Picket Duty, The Baron's Gloves, My Red Cap and What the Bells Saw and Said. One scene shows Fletcher hopping wildly about with one foot caught in a muslin loop, while Kitty sits on the lower step longing to run away and hide herself. In one story a speaker faces a man and finds it is Joe, a mere shadow of his former self after months of suffering that had crippled him for life, but brave and patient still.
