About this book
Mate in Two Moves by Winston K. Marks tells of Murt's Virus, which was catastrophically lethal but killed in a way no disease had ever thought of, loving its victims to death. Love came somewhat late to Dr. Sylvester Murt, and it took the epidemic of 1961 to break down his resistance.
High Dawn Hospital is where 38-year-old Dr. Murt was resident pathologist. Dr. Phyllis Sutton rustles the pages of the Times together, folds it up and throws it at the wastebasket with more vigor than was necessary. Part of a strategy of bachelorhood had been to ignore Christmas and the other sentimental seasons, when loneliness costs many a man his independence. Murt pays off the driver and walks the six blocks to his club.
