About this book
Modus Vivendi carries a note saying it is undoubtedly difficult to live with someone who is Different, because he must live by other ways and, for some reason, thinks you are Different. A narrator who shares offices with Mike Renner gets to the office jittery as a new bride, and an obvious telepath tailed the narrator all the way from the subway.
Horace says that Passarelli, two weeks ago, found a Stigma case named Mary Hall Not Guilty of bunco game against the 99th National Bank, and calls her a hallucinator who used her HC to pass five dollar bills off as hundreds. A speaker asks an experienced observer to watch her work her little trick, and says that if she can fool us, and not use Psi, the legal position is that she didn't need Psi to fool the teller. Passarelli, leaning forward and almost angry, asks whether the speaker has the Stigma and whether any other attorney is a Psi; the speaker admits the first and answers no to the second.
