About this book
Petty Troubles of Married Life, Second Part is a book by Honoré de Balzac. The preface says books possess another color, dyed by the author, and that certain writers borrow their dye. In one conversation a speaker describes a husband as cold as marble, as particular as an old bachelor, as communicative as a sentinel.
In a different conversation a speaker says We never leave each other, and that, in itself, is an annoyance. The text says this little trouble tends to prove that in the matter of personal deception, the two sexes can well cry quits. A section headed A Truce says the trouble doubtless occurs sufficiently often and in different ways enough in the existence of married women. A part headed Ultima Ratio says We have come to our last observation.
