About this book

The contents of Red Hunters and the Animal People list The Great Cat's Nursery, On Wolf Mountain and The Dance of the Little People. Igmu shivers on recognizing a trap, and a closer examination reveals the hated odor of man.

Igmu catches the string attached to the trap and jerks it onto dry land, doing her neighbor Sinteksa a good turn. A story-teller says the group let a doe go free despite needing food, and declares that shooting her would have made them cowards. The story-teller says the doe was helpless on dry land, so she deliberately awaited the wolves in deep water, where she could overcome them.
