About this book

Reginald by Saki gathers sketches whose contents list names, among others, Reginald on Christmas Presents, Reginald on the Academy and Reginald at the Theatre. The book gives September 1904 as its first publication date, July 1905 for a second edition and 1911 for a third edition. A narrator says "I persuaded Reginald to go to the McKillops’ garden-party against his will." Colonel Mendoza tries to tell his classic story of how he introduced golf into India, and Reginald purrs "I wouldn’t admit being on this planet in ’76."

A speaker asks whether we shall meet all the animals we have known on earth in another world, and calls it frightfully embarrassing to meet a whole shoal of whitebait you had last known at Prince’s. A speaker describes someone who believed in company prospectuses, in the purity of elections, in women marrying for love, and even in a system for winning at roulette.
