About this book
Walter B. Harris set out at the close of 1893 to explore the Atlas Mountains and, if possible, go beyond them to the oases of the north-west Sahara. Thirteen chapters follow the route from Saffi to Marakesh, up and down the Atlas, through Berber villages and the valley of Dads, to Tafilet, where he spent time with the Sultan. A return route and the accession of the new Sultan of Morocco close the volume. Maurice Romberg's illustrations come from the author's sketches and photographs, and maps trace the route. Printed in Edinburgh in 1895 and dedicated to Clements R. Markham.
