About this book

The Ceremonies of the Holy-Week at Rome is credited to Monsignor Baggs, Bishop of Pella, in a third edition. The contents list, among others, chapters on the ceremonies of the Mass, Palm-Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good-Friday and Holy-Saturday. The contents also list an appendix on peculiar ceremonies of Holy-Week at Jerusalem. A section headed Directions for Seeing the Ceremonies says, Provide yourself with a Holy-Week-book, or Uffizio della Settimana Santa.

The directions also say, Take care that your dress is according to rule. The text says S. Cyril of Jerusalem, in catechetical discourses addressed to the newly baptised, inculcates in the strongest terms the doctrine of the real presence. Cancellieri says that the music of a Magnificat was composed by Luca Marenzio.
