About this book
The Complete Poetical Works of Percy Bysshe Shelley, Volume 3 describes itself as including materials never before printed in any edition of the poems. The contents list, among others, Hymn to Mercury, translated from the Greek of Homer, and The Cyclops: A Satyric Drama, translated from the Greek of Euripides. Phoebus says he taxed someone with the fact, who averred most solemnly that he did neither see nor in any manner hear of his lost cows.
Hermes then addresses the Supreme Lord of Gods and Men as Great Father and says that he is a most veracious person. A prose passage says the only idea we can form of causation is derivable from the constant conjunction of objects, and the consequent inference of one from the other. A numbered note about line 282 says certain words are wanting in editions 1824, 1839, and were recovered by Dr. Garnett from the Boscombe manuscript.
