About this book
The Daemon of the World, by Percy Bysshe Shelley, is headed A Fragment and is set out in Part 1 and Part 2. The text describes Death and his brother Sleep, one pale as yonder wan and horned moon with lips of lurid blue and the other glowing like the vital morn. The text speaks of Ianthe, who doth not sleep the dreamless sleep of death, and names Henry in the same lines.
The text has the chariot of the Daemon of the World descend in silent power, drawn by four shapeless shadows bright and beautiful. The Daemon speaks of being given the wonders of the human world to keep. The text addresses someone as sincere and good, of resolute mind, free from heart-withering custom's cold control.
