About this book
The title page reads THE FOOT-PRINTS OF THE CREATOR: OR, THE ASTEROLEPIS OF STROMNESS. A motto on the title page reports an answer that, if this earth had ever undergone the same fate it was threatened with by the comet of 1680, repeopling it required the power of a Creator. The text says that in the Osteolepis the space corresponding to that occupied by this hyoid plate was filled by five plates, while in the Holoptychius and Glyptolepis there were but two plates.
The text says of the author of the "Vestiges" that he has in every edition of his work been correcting, modifying, or altogether withdrawing his statements regarding both geological and zoological phenomena. The text says that the pattern induced is that of stars set within polygons. The text describes minute polygonal points of bone that present, seen through a microscope, the appearance of the polygonal cells of a coral of the genus Astrea.
