About this book
The Village Coquette, or The Supposed Lottery, by Dufresny, lists the Baron, the Widow, Argon, Girard, Lucas the farmer and Lisette the coquette as its characters. A character named Girard proposes to talk of Lisette again and says "you are working hard to turn her into a coquette, instead of making her wiser." The Widow says "At nine years, she was already a coquette in embryo."
Argon asks the Baron whether he believes himself loved by Lisette, and the Baron answers "The proof of this is that I am making her my wife." The Widow says "Friendship without love. That's what we agree makes a good marriage."
