About this book
Tom Swift and His Wizard Camera, subtitled Or, Thrilling Adventures While Taking Moving Pictures, is by Victor Appleton, and its contents list names, among others, A Strange Offer, Off for India, An Elephant Stampede and The Lion Fight. A visitor who says he is James Period tells Tom he wants him to invent a new kind of moving picture camera, a regular wizard camera. The visitor wants the camera taken up in an airship, and then to all sorts of wild and strange countries.
Tom decides he will have to try for a night photograph: he will locate a spring where wild beasts are in the habit of coming, set the camera with the light going, and leave it there. Tom tells Mary, in a lowered voice, that he was scared stiff that time and asks her not to let Ned know it, and Mary promises.
