About this book

Toy Shop, by Harry Harrison, shows a demonstrator presenting a gaudy model rocketship, and the Atomic Wonder Space Wave Tapper hangs onto space waves, he says. The text says the gadget was strictly, beyond any question, a toy. Colonel "Biff" Hawton stood over six feet tall and stayed on because he wanted to find out what the trick was that made the gadget work.

At a Thursday-night poker party, the gang are all missile men, and Teddy Kaner, an amateur magician, spotted the gimmick at once. An older man says, "We'll all be rich, son," and adds, "Believe me, you're not going to recognize this old world ten years from now."
