About this book
Two Plays for Dancers is by W. B. Yeats. The preface refers the reader to a note at the end of the writer's last book, The Wild Swans at Coole, and to the long introduction to Certain Noble Plays of Japan. A postscript says that, so the writer might write The Dreaming of the Bones, Mr. W. A. Henderson with great kindness wrote out all historical allusions to Dervorgilla.
A character labelled STRANGER asks a character labelled YOUNG MAN whether he has fought in Dublin, and YOUNG MAN says he was in the Post Office and, if taken, will be put against a wall and shot. A scene has EITHNE INGUBA remark how pale someone looks, and EMER say that he is not dead. A speaker tells of a man who, with shield before him and with sword in hand, fought the deathless sea, and who waded out until the water had swept over him.
