About this book
Wildflowers of the Farm is a book by Arthur O. Cooke. The contents name, among others, In the Coppice, Flowers on the Walls and Three Handsome Weeds. The introduction places the reader at Willow Farm again and says the aim is to show some of the flowers that grow there.
The text says almost all plants, including large trees, have flowers, and that ferns have none, nor have the mosses and lichens. The text says it is by the flower or blossom that a plant is reproduced. The text describes how the Daisy spreads: it throws out thread-like shoots from the root, and from these grow another root and plant. A plant with a very beautiful blue blossom is said to be a little like the Forget-me-not, but the flower of the Alkanet is of a deeper, richer blue.
