About this book
Years of Plenty is by Ivor John Carnegie Brown. The contents list names Book One, School, and Book Two, University. Martin Leigh gazes at the wooden walls of his cubicle after his first day as a boarder at a public school, and finds life very overwhelming, with so many things to remember. Foskett looks quiet and authoritative and makes bad jokes in a quaint, theoretic manner at the head of the table, while his wife chatters and gushes.
Mr Berrisford says that Oxford is going to the dogs and that he expects it is the women that are destroying Oxford. Cartmell protests that something is downright Toryism and says, "You call yourself a revolutionary!" Martin wants, more than he would care to admit, to be alone and to see Freda dispassionately, from a distance.
