A.M. Shine

The Watchers strands a woman in a forest in western Ireland, in a concrete bunker with one mirrored wall, where she and three strangers must be visible and still every night to whatever is outside watching them.

Shine is Irish and draws on the changeling and fae folklore rather than on standard horror, and the creatures are the older, crueller version of that material.

The Creeper followed. He writes in a deliberately formal register that some readers find stilted and others find exactly right for the material.
