Denis Rothman

Rothman built early natural language and optimisation systems for French corporations and for aerospace, decades before the current wave, and now writes technical books that walk a reader through building the thing rather than reading about it. Artificial Intelligence By Example works through reinforcement learning, neural networks and chatbots as coded projects. Transformers for Natural Language Processing is the later one, covering the architecture behind the current generation of language models. The books date quickly, which he acknowledges by revising them often and rewriting whole chapters between editions.
