Alasdair Gilchrist

Alasdair Gilchrist is a technology writer whose professional background spans information technology, data communications, telecommunications, cloud systems, networking, and security architecture. His books translate that practical experience into guidance for organizations adopting digital tools. Spreadsheets to Cubes addresses small and medium businesses seeking stronger analysis without the resources of an enterprise. The book presents a path from spreadsheet work toward an affordable data platform, connects that foundation with reporting, forecasting, and advanced analytical methods. Gilchrist treats data maturity as an organizational concern beyond software purchases, emphasizing infrastructure, information, and a culture capable of using evidence in decisions. Its subtitle, Advanced Data Analytics for Small Medium Business, distinguishes it from his broader writing on cloud platforms, data engineering, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0. His approach links technical architecture with operational purpose.
