Erica Shea is a cofounder of Brooklyn Brew Shop and a coauthor of practical books that bring small-batch brewing into ordinary kitchens. Brooklyn Brew Shop’s Beer Making Book, written with Stephen Valand and with Jennifer Fiedler, presents fifty-two seasonal recipes alongside guidance on equipment, ingredients, growing hops, food pairing, and cooking with beer. Clarkson Potter issued it in 2011. Shea and Valand had started their company at the Brooklyn Flea in 2009, designing compact kits for people who lacked the space associated with traditional home brewing. Their approach emphasizes real ingredients and stovetop methods without treating simplicity as a reason to omit technique. They later coauthored Make Some Beer, which draws recipes and stories from breweries in several countries. Brooklyn Brew Shop’s Beer Making Book remains the clearest introduction to their original idea: seasonal, one-gallon brewing suited to urban homes. Shea's role joins entrepreneurship, recipe development, teaching, and writing, with collaboration central to both the business and the books.
