Kate Allinson brings experience as a restaurant chef to Pinch of Nom, the cooking project and book series she built with Kay Allinson. The pair owned a restaurant on the Wirral, where Kate served as head chef, before creating a blog focused on approachable recipes. Their first cookbook, Pinch of Nom, collects one hundred dishes designed for home cooks, including vegetarian meals, familiar comfort food, and lighter versions of takeaway favorites. Bluebird, an imprint of Pan Macmillan, issued the volume in 2019. It became a major British bestseller and established a continuing sequence of cookbooks, planners, and collections devoted to quick meals, budgets, family cooking, slow cookers, and air fryers. Allinson’s restaurant background is visible in the emphasis on flavor, clear method, and ingredients that ordinary supermarkets carry. Her collaboration with Kay also matters to the project’s identity: recipes were developed for a large community of readers who exchanged practical cooking experiences. The book translates that community-led approach into a structure for both novice and experienced cooks.
