About this book
Grandmother Dear is a book for boys and girls by Mrs. Molesworth. The book is illustrated by Walter Crane. The contents list chapters titled Making Friends, Lost in the Louvre and The Six Pinless Brooches. The text remarks that aunty had proved to be all that could be wished of aunty-kind, and that grandmother promised more than fairly.
A character named Molly, after kissing her grandmother, asks whether she ever tells stories. A narrator tells of an uncomfortable little voice that kept whispering that all this kindness was not deserved and that a grandmother was being deceived. A narrator describes a sound that was quite distinct, even louder than the narrator had heard it, and Mary, herself a little frightened, as she afterwards confessed.
