About this book

The Companions of Jehu includes an introductory account of consulting records of an inquiry, trial and judgment, with an official report used to confirm a written account of the events. The narrator leaves a magistrate convinced that poets know history as well as historians, or perhaps better. A meeting brings Morgan into Bonaparte’s study, where Bonaparte recognizes the chief of the Companions of Jehu as the man seen at Avignon.

The account of military movements places Masséna near Genoa, maintaining his position against land forces and a fleet. The same account describes Moreau taking the offensive on the Rhine and defeating the enemy at Stockach and Moeskirch while movements were taking place in Italy.
