About this book
The Story of the Woman's Party is a book by Inez Haynes Gillmore. A line printed in the book is given as the last words spoken in public by Susan B. Anthony, on her birthday in 1906: that with such women consecrating their lives failure is impossible. Miss Pincus says she cannot come with the air of a conquering hero, but is sure that any person who understands the situation in Arizona will acknowledge that the purpose of their campaign was accomplished.
The Chairman of the Committee, who had neglected week after week to make the report, was finally galvanized into action by a visit to the imprisoned pickets at Occoquan, and on September 15 made his report to the Senate. A third deputation, led by Dr. Cora Smith King and composed of influential members of the National Council of Women Voters, waited on the President on March 31 and told the President that the women voters, who numbered approximately two million, were much interested in the proposed Suffrage Amendment.
