James Oseland has worked as a food editor, writer, and television judge. During eight years as editor-in-chief of Saveur, he edited Saveur: The New Comfort Food, which brought the magazine’s recipes together in a collection published by Chronicle Books in 2011. For Cradle of Flavor, Oseland drew on years spent studying the food traditions of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Television audiences later saw him judge five seasons of Top Chef Masters. Across these roles, Oseland has linked reported food writing and cultural context with recipes intended for the kitchen.
