About this book
Have Faith in Massachusetts is described as A Collection of Speeches and Messages by Calvin Coolidge, Governor of Massachusetts. The introductory note says there are certain fundamental principles of sound community life which cannot be stated too emphatically or too often.
A passage says Have faith in Massachusetts, adding that in some unimportant detail some other States may surpass her. The text advises Do the day's work: if it be to protect the rights of the weak, whoever objects, do it. A passage places faith in the individual's will and power to do right of his own accord, and says equally that the individual shall be protected against whatsoever force may be brought against him. A passage quotes Roger Ascham, the teacher to Queen Elizabeth, writing about 1565 that more care is commonly had to find a cunning man for their horse than a cunning man for their children.
