About this book
The book Austria-Hungary says the Carpathian ranges of mountains run round fully two-thirds of Hungary. The text says Hungary has been called the land of “three mountains and four rivers,” and that the emblem of these form the chief feature in the coat-of-arms of the country. The text quotes a description of a cart full of peasants and a string of thin light-footed horses coming up the broad high road. The text says the town of Tokay nestles at the base of low hills called Hegyalia, where the much admired wine of Tokay is produced.
The text says the grottoes of Adelsburg are among the most remarkable in the world, and that the Terglou peak in Carniola rises to a height of 10,000 feet. The text says a contest ended in a clear victory for the Prussians, and that close on five hundred unwounded Austrian prisoners were next morning marched up to headquarters.
