About this book

Mrs. Tree by Laura Elizabeth Howe Richards is dated June, 1902. The contents list names, among others, chapters titled Introducing Tommy Candy and Solomon, his Grandfather, The Peak in Darien and Doctor Stedman's Patient. Mrs. Tree says the child looked well enough, that she looks well and means well, and that she gave her diamonds.

Mrs. Tree asks Vesta Blyth am I dead, and asks Do I look as if I were going to die? Doctor Stedman comes up the garden walk, and Mrs. Tree tells him You haven't been near me for a month. Mrs. Tree fixes the doctor with a bright black eye and says At my age, James, everything is serious.
